China has confirmed the first case of infection with a new strain of coronavirus. Research has shown contamination of a British sample of the virus.

The Straits Times reports this with reference to the China Center for Infectious Diseases.

The “British” strain was identified in a 23-year-old woman from Shanghai who flew in from the UK on December 14. The woman was hospitalized after arriving with mild symptoms.

Doctors have sequenced his DNA samples due to his UK travel history and abnormal nucleic acid test results. Tests have confirmed the “British” mutation of the woman’s coronavirus.

Let us remember that in France the first case of infection with a new strain of the Sars-cov-2 coronavirus was registered. This strain of coronavirus, called 501.V2, was first found in South Africa in mid-December.

In addition, the US state of California announced the second confirmed case in the country of a new strain of coronavirus. This is strong evidence that the infection is widespread in the United States.
