Re-infection with coronavirus is considered rare
Nevada disease is the first confirmed case in the United States among nearly six million cases in the country.
In Nevada, a 25-year-old patient became the first U.S. resident to be re-infected with the coronavirus. This is stated in the preprint of an article prepared by Nevada scientists, according to Medusa.
On April 18, the man, whose name has not been released, was first diagnosed with a coronavirus infection and by April 27 his symptoms had disappeared. Two infection tests on May 9 and 25 were negative.
But on May 28, the patient became ill again, developed a more serious illness caused by the coronavirus. The sequencing of the virus genome showed that the second infection is different from the first.
The study authors believe that coronavirus reinfection is rare. The illness of a Nevada resident was the first confirmed case in the United States among the nearly six million COVID-19 cases in the country.
This is the fourth confirmed case of coronavirus reinfection in the world. The first case was registered by Hong Kong scientists, two more were confirmed in the Netherlands and Belgium.
