As of today, the Netherlands is introducing a ban on passenger air travel from the UK, due to the spread of a new strain of coronavirus.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to a statement from the Dutch government.
The government noted that it is monitoring developments with a new mutation of the virus and is considering additional measures for other modes of transport.
The ban will be valid until January 1.
Furthermore, the government does not recommend citizens to travel unnecessarily.
Dutch authorities said that in early December, the same virus strain was detected in the country as in the UK.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the infectivity of the new strain of coronavirus, which has recently been found in various regions of the country, may be 70% higher than the previous one.
