“Negligence, terrorist attack or malfunction”. Kucher named versions of the An-26Sh plane crash

Law enforcement officials should verify how the order to land the crashed An-26Sh was given, said the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Alexey Kucher.

The An-26Sh plane crash near Chuguev, in the Kharkov region, could have occurred for three reasons: negligence, as a result of a terrorist attack, or equipment malfunction. This was announced on September 26 by the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Aleksey Kucher at a briefing in Chuguev, writes RBC Ukraine.

Kucher spoke about the delay in the permission to land the An-26SH after it became known about the failure of one of the engines.

According to Kucher, the pilot received a response after a request to land just a minute later. Right now, another side was landing, he said.

Law enforcement officials, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, should check how this board was given priority when landing. He approached the State Investigation Office and the prosecutor’s office with a request to investigate this version of the tragedy in more detail.

The An-26Sh training plane crashed and caught fire 2 km from the Chuguev military airfield on the night of September 25. There were 27 people on board: seven servicemen and 20 cadets from the Kharkiv National Air Force University, named after Ivan Kozhedub.

Two cadets were able to jump shortly before the plane crashed. One of them was seriously injured and died on September 26 at the hospital, the life of the second survivor Vyacheslav Zolochevsky there is no threat. Total as a result of the tragedy 26 people died.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, a few minutes before the disaster the aircraft commander reported an engine failure and requested a landing, however, for an unknown reason, the aircraft crashed on the side of the runway.

September 26 in Ukraine has been declared a day of mourning for those killed in the plane crash.
