40 tons of coins will be sold at auction

Old coins withdrawn from circulation will be sold at auction. The starting price of the lot is 125 thousand UAH.

The National Bank of Ukraine has put up to auction 40 tons of withdrawn coins. This was reported by the regulator’s press service.

So, coins with denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 kopecks and 1 hryvnia of the old sample, which were made before 2018, were auctioned.

A trifle weighing 40 tons is planned to be sold at auction on October 9. The starting price is 125.4 thousand UAH, VAT included.

It was previously reported that as of October 1, the National Bank is withdrawing another currency from circulation. However, it can be returned to banks and exchanged for other bills.

As a reminder, since October 1, 2019, coins with denominations of 1, 2 and 5 kopecks have ceased to be a means of payment in Ukraine. They were withdrawn from circulation on October 1, 2019.
