In a post on Navalny’s instagram, it is said that after he fell ill on the plane, his colleagues took everything that could be useful in a deeper investigation from his room. Among these items were bottles of water; later, traces of poison were found on one of them.

Navalny poisoning: what is known

  • Navalny fell ill on August 20 on the plane in which he was flying from Tomsk to Moscow. So the plane urgently landed at Omsk airport. Navalny headquarters believe the politician was poisoned with something mixed with the tea. The politician was evacuated from the Omsk hospital on August 22.
  • Now he is in a German clinic. Earlier, a Reuters source at Omsk Emergency Hospital No. 1, where the politician was initially hospitalized, said that the order to release Alexei Navalny by plane to Germany came directly from the Kremlin, without explanation.
  • On August 24, Germany confirmed the poisoning of the opponent.
  • On September 2, it became known that experts from the Bundeswehr laboratory found traces of poison from the Novichok group on the body of Alexei Navalny. Therefore, Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent. German intelligence chief Bruno Kahl said a poison was used that was stronger than previously known. In Russia they deny it and refuse to initiate criminal proceedings.
  • On September 4, it became known that experts from the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the German Armed Forces in Munich found traces of a poisonous substance from the Novichok group in Navalny’s blood, urine and skin, as well as in the bottle from which he drank. European politicians have repeatedly called on Russia to investigate the Navalny poisoning.
  • On September 4, the ambassadors of the 30 NATO member countries in an emergency meeting demanded an international investigation into the Navalny poisoning.
  • On September 9, the German Defense Ministry announced that the results of the analysis of samples taken from Navalny were transferred to the OPCW.
  • On September 10 it emerged that Navalny had come out of the coma completely. According to media reports, he remembers everything that preceded the poisoning, up until the moment he passed out on the plane.
  • On September 14, the Berlin Charite clinic, where Navalny is being treated, issued a statement saying that the condition of the Russian opponent continued to improve, he was disconnected from the ventilator. Doctors said Navalny can get out of a hospital bed for a while.
  • Also on September 14 it became known that French and Swedish laboratories confirmed the poisoning of Navalny by Novichok. Thus, the presence of a Novichok group substance in the samples of the Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny was confirmed by data from three independent laboratories.
