US President Joe Biden will consider all options for Washington’s response to the arrest in Russia of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The White House calls on the Russian authorities to immediately release Navalny.
This was stated by the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, reports Reuters.
Along with Navalny, Washington is demanding the immediate release of all those detained in Saturday’s protests in Russian cities.
Biden himself has so far not commented on the arrest of Russian opposition leader Navalny, whom they tried to kill last year with the help of battle poison.
Recall that in the first days of his presidency, Biden ordered intelligence to study the situation with the Navalny poisoning and verify the connection of Russian hackers with a cyberattack on various US government networks.
Furthermore, the United States Congress reacted to Navalny’s arrest. Congressmen called Navalny’s accusations “dubious” and called on the Russian authorities to immediately release the opponent.
