The president of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine, Volodymyr Brynzak, responded to the question whether further naturalization of foreign athletes is planned.
– There are quite a few naturalized athletes on our team. More naturalization planned?
– Naturalization is not provided here. When people turn to us, we look. If you have Ukrainian roots, if we can help, why not? The question is purely vital. How can a person whose parents are Ukrainians be forbidden to come to train wherever they want and defend the interests of the country they want?
Not that we have invited Loginov or another Russian compilation that has already accomplished it all. We help young athletes who want to achieve something.
Where would Bekh be if she were not included in the Russian team? And she came to us, she became a two-time world champion among juniors, European champion among juniors and already in the national team. Why shouldn’t we have helped her? You have many relatives here in Vishnevoe.
