An asteroid the size of a multi-story building will fly close to Earth on September 1. This was reported on the website of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The asteroid is expected to approach Earth at 7:12 p.m. Kiev time. A celestial body that varies in size from 22 to 49 meters will approach the planet at a distance of about 120 thousand kilometers, NASA said.

For comparison, the distance from the Moon to Earth is 384.4 thousand kilometers. The flight speed of a celestial body will be 8.16 km / s.

Asteroid 2011 ES4 was discovered on March 2, 2011. It belongs to the Apollo group, asteroids whose flight path intersects the Earth’s orbit.

In mid-August, an asteroid was reported to have imperceptibly approached Earth at a record distance – it was discovered only when it passed the closest point to the planet.

On August 5, a space body the size of a football field flew at a minimum distance from Earth.
