In spite of humanitarian truce declared, the battles for Nagorno-Karabakh continue between Azerbaijan and Armenia since September 27. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijani forces took control of 23 new villages in southern Karabakh.

Clashes between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces continue in areas adjacent to the border with Iran.
According to the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry, the Armenian army launched three ballistic missiles in the Siyazan region, two in the Gabala region and one in the Kurdamir region. In turn, Armenia denies it.
Azerbaijani forces shot down two Armenian UAVs in the Fizuli area and another in the Terter area.
According to the BBC, Ilham Aliyev announced on October 22 that the Azerbaijani army had taken 21 more villages, including Agbend, the last settlement on the Iran-Azerbaijan border before the border with Armenia.
According to him, after the capture of Agbend, Azerbaijan completely controls the state border with Iran.
Agbend is located on the Araks River, near the place where the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Iran meet.
Therefore, if Aliyev’s statement is confirmed, this will mean that the Azerbaijani army first entered the border of Armenia proper and at the same time took control of the border with Iran in its entirety.
Aliyev also announced the capture of 19 more settlements: 12 in the Zangelan region, three in Fizuli and four in the Jebrail region.
The villages named by Aliyev in the Zangelan region are located mainly along the Araks and above it in the mountains, as well as near the regional center of Zangelan.
Aliyev named between Sirik and Shikhlyar villages of the Jebrail region. If his capture is confirmed, it means that the Azerbaijani army is expanding the control zone northeast of Jebrail, higher in the mountains and closer to the center of Nagorno-Karabakh.
