Last year, Naftogaz slashed gas imports due to the large reserves formed in previous years.

Last year, Naftogaz lost its status as the top gas importer, immediately dropping to fifth place, writes Business Censor on Tuesday, February 9.

According to the customs service, Naftogaz imported only 720 million cubic meters of gas in 2020. This is due to the fact that the company pumped large volumes of gas in 2019. Furthermore, imports decreased due to the warm winter of 2019-2020.

According to the newspaper, Euroenergotrade became the largest gas importer last year: 1,252 million cubic meters. Next comes Eru Trading – 1.24 million cubic meters of gas, Gas Com Trade – 824 million cubic meters of gas, Sokar Ukraine – 748 million cubic meters. And only then Naftogaz.

Overall, 8.6 million cubic meters of gas were imported into Ukraine in 2020 through customs and under the customs warehousing regime. This includes gas that was injected in 2019, but cleared customs and sold in 2020.

Note that in 2020 the Naftogaz group of companies produced 13,450 million cubic meters of gas, 1% less than a year earlier.
