The Association of Transporters said that the work of the drivers during the lockdown generates little money and has become too stressful: people are already throwing stones at the minibuses if they do not stop. Also recently, there have been many conflicts between drivers and passengers.
The president of the organization Igor Moiseenko told it, reports “Segodnya” on Thursday, March 25.
He said that during the conflicts, passengers broke the glass of two shuttle buses.
“Massive raids are carried out in Kiev to identify standing passengers in minibuses. Drivers try not to carry more passengers than they should. As a result, constant conflicts arise. People from stops even throw stones at buses so that they do not stop, everyone wants to get there. At the final stops, passengers fight with the drivers and shout that they will deal with the police themselves, “said the president of the association of carriers.
At the same time, Mosienko added, drivers are unable to expel passengers and constantly conflict with them.
We will remember, in Kiev until April 9, a three-week lockdown will last. During such quarantine restrictions, public transport can function as usual, but with no more than 50% of the seats occupied.
Starting on Saturday, March 27 in Kiev, the cost of the minibus trip will increase by two hryvnias. Carriers consider the harsh quarantine to be the reason for the rate increase. They also intend to contact the Kiev city authorities to stop the minibuses during the closure due to low income.
Meanwhile, “Strana” has published more than once photos of crowded minibuses that circulate through the capital. Most people wear masks, but no one maintains social distance.
