Iran is willing to pay equal compensation to the families of all the victims of the downed airliner.

At the end of the first day of the second round of talks, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry declared that Iran took full responsibility for the UIA plane downed near Tehran. This was stated by Vice Chancellor Yevgeny Yenin, who is participating in the negotiations.

It is also reported that the Iranian side is willing to provide the same amount of compensation to the families of all victims, regardless of their citizenship.

During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarifi, Yenin spoke about the need for an impartial and objective investigation into the circumstances of the plane crash and called on the Iranian side to guarantee access to all relevant materials.

“Progress in the negotiation process on the Ukrainian aircraft will contribute to the normalization of cooperation with Iran in all areas,” he stressed.

Zarifi assured that no third country will influence Iran’s policy towards Ukraine.

Note that several family members of passengers who died on the UIA liner have already filed a lawsuit against Iranian authorities in the United States Federal Court in Washington.

As a reminder, Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-800, en route from Tehran to Kiev, crashed on the morning of January 8, shortly after its departure from the Iranian capital. 176 people died.

Iran has officially admitted that it mistakenly shot down the UIA plane, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the military branch of Iran’s executive branch, took responsibility for this.
