Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law to increase the minimum wage. So, starting from September 1, the minimum wage will be 5 thousand hryvnia.
This is reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The presidential office noted that this is only the first stage of raising the minimum wage in Ukraine. The next step will be to increase the “minimum wage” to 6,000 hryvnia in 2021, and within a year it will rise to 6.5,000 hryvnia.
“With the increase in the minimum wage, the income of public sector workers will also increase: teachers, educators, social workers, since their salaries are calculated according to a single rate scale, as well as doctors,” Zelensky explained.
Let us remember that the law to increase the minimum wage was approved by Parliament in an extraordinary meeting on August 25.
We add that the increase in the minimum wage in Ukraine was a proposal by President Zelensky.
