The importance of today’s match for both sides was difficult to overestimate. The UPL calendar gave Desna a unique opportunity in this round: Chernihiv’s team, in case of victory, could close the gap with the competitors, as they (Shakhtar, Dynamo, Zorya and Vorskla) play against each other. “Minayu” in every meeting has something to prove. The Transcarpathians cannot move away from the relegation zone, they have six points in their asset.
There is such a stereotype that a football coach is a very superstitious person who once again does not like to tempt fate. However, this does not apply to Alexander Ryabokon. An experienced mentor does not believe in omens, as Dmitry Khlebas’s entry today demonstrated at the beginning. The forward managed to participate in three games of the season and on three occasions the Northerners lost points. November 7 was the fourth attempt.
In addition, on the left flank of Desna’s defense came winger Kartushov, who had to change position during a match: the disqualified Mostovoy missed the game. Vasily Kobin brought Denis Kozhanov back to the start and Kanibalotskiy appeared in goal. As for the rest, we fully predicted the lineup in the ad.
“Minaj” didn’t care about the status of the guest team, or the fact that they had time to register as outsiders. Vasily Kobin prepared his players to fight, and they immediately began to act aggressively. In the sixth minute it paid off: Nuriev went through the side, fired, after which the ball found Gitchenko’s hand. The seventh number of the guests decided to take the penalty himself and hit the place where no goalkeeper could reach: the post. “Desna” tried to take the initiative, but they could not offer anything against the aggressive actions of the Transcarpathians. It must be recognized that before the half-time whistle, it was the guests who were closest to the goal. However, no precise hits were recorded.
Alexander Ryabokon had a tough talk with his guys during the break, because after that they seemed like a different team. Perhaps this is how Totovitsky’s departure influenced the “Northerners.” The leader of the Chernihiv residents remained in reserve, and without his dozen, the owners were pale. In the second half, chances weren’t created very often, but overall the game didn’t seem boring. Today there was speed, aggression and blows from different distances. In general, the only thing missing was the annotated one. It began to seem that a goal could decide the fate of the game.
Luck was on the side of the owners. The prolonged attack by “Desna” ended with a run by Hemp on the right flank, which he found in Budkovskiy’s penalty area with a pass. Phillip sent the ball into the net with a precise touch. And then, the joy of the residents of Chernihiv, the disappointment of the guests and the indifference of the side referee, who did not register an offside position. But, as the replay showed, Budkovsky was out of the game. But the VAR was absent in the Kiev party. For the sake of justice, it should be noted that “Desna” in the second half could count on a penalty – there was suspicion of a hand by the visiting defender.
Kobin’s charges had ten minutes with a queue, in the form of additional time, most of which was spent in the opponent’s half of the field. However, the guests played against an experienced team, which will not give theirs as well. At the end of the match, Ryabokon released the third central defender, making it clear that the slightest lead on the scoreboard is in the mentor’s best interest. The final whistle recorded the minimal victory for “Desna”.
If after the game with “Rukh” we criticized the Transcarpathian club, now the situation is different: Vasyl Kobin’s team played by a solid four, on nothing but the scoreboard, without giving in to a more experienced opponent. Precisely with football like today, the representatives of Western Ukraine will have every chance to compete for a place in the middle of the table already in their debut season.
