Microsoft has begun work on developing its own processors for use in server computers and laptops. Company wants to reduce reliance on Intel Corp chip technology

Bloomberg reports.

Microsoft is reportedly using a design from UK-based Arm Ltd. to create a processor to be used in data centers. The company is also developing another chip to power Surfac laptops.

The American company Amazon has already successfully implemented its own processors and claims that they are cheaper and more efficient than the silicon chips that Intel sells.

“Because silicon is a critical building material, we are investing in our own design and manufacturing, and developing and strengthening partnerships with a wide range of chip vendors,” said Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw.

We will remember, earlier Apple introduced new Mac computers with their own processors.
