Prema team driver Mick Schumacher in the season-final sprint race at Sakhir finished only 18th, but won the Formula 2 championship.
Mick made a mistake at the start, braking and ruining his tires. Schumacher was forced to go to the pit stop, so he finished far from the points area.
In such a situation, the only competitor Callum Ilott for the title needed to finish at least second and take the fastest lap bonus, but the Briton finished only 11th, that is, also outside the points zone.
Schumacher beat Callum Ilott by 14 points.
Note that Schumacher started this season pretty bad, with 14 points after two stages, while Ilott had 43 points. However, Mick successfully played the European part of the championship and took the title.
Previously, he was a Formula 3 series champion.
From the new season, Mick moves on to F-1, where he will play for Team Haas along with Nikita Mazepin. Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) is likely to move from the current F-2 lineup to Formula-1.
