Metro in Kiev, Kharkov and the Dnieper will not open in a day

Ukraine’s chief medical doctor Viktor Lyashko said that Metro in Kiev, Kharkov and the Dnieper may not open at the same time.

On the air of the Ukrainian radio, he said that the issue of opening the subway will be considered taking into account the epidemiological situation and the stages of Ukraine’s exit from quarantine.

We are talking about three cities: Kiev, Kharkov and the Dnieper. And I can’t guarantee that the subway will open in one day, “said Lyashko.

He recalled that the problems of public transport are solved in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Economy.

We are now considering that public transport will be open in the second or third stage, if there are no complications from the epidemiological situation. Now we are talking about a comprehensive discovery. Tentatively, this will be in early June, “he added.

Lyashko previously opposed the introduction of special passes to enter the subway.

On the eve of the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with an appeal to restore metro work in the usual way from May 25.

On April 22, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said the government has developed a gradual launch of public transport in Ukraine.

He also noted that the resumption of public transport in Ukraine is only possible in the third stage of the weakening of the quarantine.

Previously, it was reported that the Cabinet of Ministers extended the quarantine in Ukraine until May 22, but with some weakening, which began operating on May 11.

In addition, since May 11, quarantine in Ukraine has become adaptive regional. This means that in the event of an exacerbation of infection in certain regions, restrictive measures will be strengthened there, and not across the country.

Health Minister Maxim Stepanov announced the projected dates for further weakening of the quarantine in Ukraine: May 22, June 1 and 11.
