The European Commission has asked all European countries to present vaccination plans against coronavirus infection.
The coronavirus vaccine could be registered in Europe from December or after the New Year, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said. His speech on Thursday, November 19, was posted on Twitter by a representative of the German government, Steffen Seibert.
“We expect registration in Europe in December or shortly after the beginning of next year,” said the chancellor.
Once the vaccine is registered in Europe, the vaccination process will begin.
Merkel said the latest news on vaccine development is “very encouraging.”
He also said that the European Commission is negotiating the supply of vaccines with several manufacturers, including BioNTech and Pfizer.
Pfizer previously said that its COVID vaccine was more than 90% effective.
At the initiative of COVAX, Ukraine will receive around 8 million doses for free, but will be able to buy more at a special price. This number is enough for only 4 million people.
At the same time, a course of vaccination against the coronavirus, consisting of two doses, for Ukrainians will cost about $ 14.
