German Chancellor Angela Merkel allowed the production of the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus Sputnik V in her country after its registration by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The German edition of The Local writes about this on January 21, citing a statement from the Chancellor.

Merkel said that despite significant political differences with Russia, the countries can work together in a humanitarian pandemic.

After sending Moscow’s statement to the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the German leader announced that she had proposed the Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedical Medicines Paul Ehrlich to support Russia.

If the EMA approves the Russian vaccine, there will be talk of joint production, as well as its use, Merkel added.

Russia’s Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has applied for registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in the European Union, RBC reported on Jan.20. The RDIF reported that on January 19, experts representing the EMA held a scientific consultation for the developers of the Sputnik V vaccine.
