Merkel announces alarming outlook for coronavirus

Angela Merkel predicts more than 19 thousand infected per day by Christmas

In Germany, everything must be done so that the number of infected people does not grow exponentially, the chancellor said.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her concern about the development of the coronavirus epidemic in the country and warned of more than 19,000 daily infections for Christmas. She said it during a videoconference with the presidium of her CDU party, reports Bild on Monday, September 28.

“It is necessary to eliminate local sources of infection very clearly, otherwise we will have 19,200 cases of infection per day at Christmas,” Merkel said.

According to her, the number of infected in Europe is worrying and in Germany everything must be done so that the numbers do not grow exponentially.

The Chancellor believes that it is necessary to set priorities, including support for the economy, as well as the work of schools and kindergartens. At the same time, “football is secondary,” Merkel said, adding that she considers parties, restaurants and religious events problematic.

Note that last Saturday in Germany, 2507 new cases of coronavirus were recorded per day, this is the highest number since April.

Let us remember that in the world more than a million people have become victims of the coronavirus pandemic. Most of the people died in the United States (209,000), Brazil (141,000) and India (95,000).
