Mariupol interrupted his losing streak with a win over Lviv

The opposition from matchday 11 of the Ukrainian Premier League between Lvov and Mariupol was extremely important for both teams. The hosts needed three points to break away from the relegation zone, but Mariupol’s team tried to move closer to the European Cup zone and interrupt the series without winning.

Mariupol’s first shot on goal in the match turned into an assist. Gorbunov from the left wing made an excellent pass to Sikan, whom Mikhobi and Yakimets lost in the center of the penalty area, after which the guest striker sent the ball into the goal with his head. Kostik approached the shell, but could not avoid seizing his possessions.

Almost immediately, Lviv was able to equalize the score, but Kazlauskas, after a pass from a good position, fired wide. Going forward, the hosts did not stand out in any way until the 27th minute, when Romanchuk played tough against Bondarenk, for which he received a yellow card. But Mariupol had an excellent scoring opportunity right after this offense, but the ball hit the post.

In the 34th minute, the guests still managed to double the score on the scoreboard. The left flank, on which the Mariupol players played the ball, failed again, and after a pass from Ocheretko Mishnev sent the ball to the lower corner of the goal with an accurate flying shot. Lviv created a good moment closer to the 40th minute, but Muravsky snatched the ball from Nych’s leg on a sliding tackle. Until the end of time, the teams no longer created scoring chances, so the guests went into the break with a good advantage.

The second half began with a substitution of Shumsky, who traded Romanchuk, who had a yellow card, for Ernest. Teams quickly caught up on the number of yellow cards, this time Muravsky won a yellow card after a foul in midfield. But there was no danger for the goal, the teams were remembered only for approaches to outside free throws without serious blows. But in the 60th minute Ostap Markevich’s substitutions worked, Topalov gave a great pass, and Kulakov, after an excellent run, went one-on-one with the goalkeeper and, without being greedy, threw the ball into an empty net. Ocheretko just needed not to miss, which he did, bringing the score to 0: 3.

After the goal, Lviv tried to create several dangerous moments, but all these attempts were unsuccessful and the substitutions made by the head coach did not really change the pattern of play. Only in the 73rd minute after the transfer of the free kick, Mikhobi sent the projectile into the visitor’s goal with his head, where Kudrik missed the shot and conceded a goal, which returned the intrigue in the match. This goal can be safely recorded on the goalkeeper, because the timing was quite simple and the goalkeeper had to hit that ball. Mariupol scored the fourth almost immediately, but was ruled out for an offside position.

In the 85th minute, the hosts could have reduced the distance to a minimum, but on the rebound after a cross, Shina was overtaken by a Mariupol defender, who neutralized the threat. Three minutes later, Maxim Cech rolled dangerously under Felipe and naturally received a red card, and after a free kick, Felipe himself broke the rules quite roughly, seeing a yellow card in front of him.

The last two minutes, “Mariupol” played with nine (the injury prevented Kiryukhantsev from completing the match), but the guests were able to maintain the advantage and added three points.
