Belarusian opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya believes that her comrade in arms Maria Kolesnikova “broke the system of forcing people abroad” by breaking her passport.

Belarusian opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya supported the act of the member of the Presidium of the Opposition Coordination Council Maria Kolesnikova, who tore her passport while trying to get her out of Belarus. Tikhanovskaya announced this on September 8 on her headquarters Telegram channel “Pool Pervoy.”

“Having broken her passport at the border, Maria broke the system of getting people out of the country. For me, she is a hero, of course. Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly where Maria is now. Overall, this kidnapping is very low. Since the authorities resort to such methods – it means they have no support, “Tikhanovskaya said in a statement.

In addition to supporting his comrade in arms, Tikhanovskaya called for more protests in Belarus.

On the morning of September 7, in Minsk, unknown persons arrested and took Kolesnikova away. In addition, the coordinating council press secretary Anton Rodnenkov and council executive secretary Ivan Kravtsov stopped contacting.

On September 8, Belarusian border guards said that three opposition representatives, Kravtsov, Rodnenkov and Kolesnikova, were passing the border control at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border in the morning. Initially, the representative of the Belarusian State Border Committee, Anton Bychkovsky, said that the three had crossed the border. He then said that Kolesnikov was “kicked” out of the car at the border, while Rodnenkov and Kravtsov managed to escape to Ukraine.

The State Border Service of Ukraine later reported that Rodnenkov and Kravtsov were in Ukraine and that Kolesnikova did not arrive at the Ukrainian checkpoint. Ukraine’s Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said the three were forcibly expelled to discredit the Belarusian opposition. Kolesnikova, according to him, could not be expelled, as “this brave woman took steps to prevent her movement across the border.”

According to media reports, Kolesnikova broke her passport while trying to force her to leave the country.

The member of the Presidium of the Opposition Coordination Council, Maxim Znak, stressed that Kolesnikova expressed a clear position: under no circumstances will you leave the country, just by force. “At least the day before yesterday, she was absolutely sure of that,” he said.
