Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko said that raising the minimum wage to 6,500 hryvnia is reasonable. According to him, this decision is confirmed by calculations and economic dynamics.

Marchenko announced this on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24.

The minister pointed out that in Ukraine the ratio between the minimum wage and the average is 45%. Furthermore, in European countries this figure exceeds 50%.

“The figures in the budget are absolutely justified, confirmed by calculations and economic dynamics,” Marchenko said.

Note that earlier the head of the financial committee of the parliament, Daniil Getmantsev, called the increase in the minimum wage to 6.5 thousand hryvnia too high.

Recall, on September 14, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the state budget project for 2021. According to the document, the government expects the economy to grow 4.6% in 2021.

In addition, according to the budget, the minimum wage will grow by 30% and will amount to 6.5 thousand hryvnia. At the same time, the increase in the minimum wage will lead to additional expenditures from the state budget of 50 billion UAH.
