As TUT.BY reports, the main clash between protesters and police takes place near the Arena City shopping center on the way to Drozdy.
“Protesters and security officers near Arena City stopped at a distance of 20 meters from each other. Two people from the security forces went to negotiations. They asked the crowd to disperse. People refused,” he said the newspaper.
According to the Belarusian Interior Ministry, today about 250 protesters were arrested in Minsk.
The March of Heroes is celebrated in Belarus on September 13. Siloviki stopped in Minsk military equipment and transport vehicles… According to Russian “Interfax”, more than 150 thousand protesters gathered in the center of the capital.
Mass protests have occurred in Belarus since August 9. The protesters believe that the results of the presidential elections, which took place from August 4-9, were falsified. Opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya came in second with 10.1% of the vote. At the same time, alternative exit polls showed the opposite picture: Tikhanovskaya’s confident victory.
The Belarusian security forces violently dispersed the demonstrations, in particular with the use of stun grenades, rubber bullets and water cannons. During the protests, about 10,000 protesters were detained and hundreds were injured and wounded. According to official figures, four protesters died.
