Politicians demanding a review of the involvement of German companies in the construction of the gas pipeline must realize the consequences, stressed the head of the German Foreign Ministry.
The poisoning of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny does not only concern the construction of the gas pipeline. Nord Stream 2, you should not limit everything to that. This was stated by the German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, in an interview with Bild am Sonntag, published on Saturday 5 September.
“More than 100 companies from 12 European countries are participating in the construction of the gas pipeline, about half of them are from Germany. <...> Now reduce the discussion to the topic only Nord Stream 2 – Not the case ”- said the German official.
At the same time, he stressed that those demanding that Germany withdraw from the construction of the SP-2 must be aware of the consequences.
As a reminder, German politicians began demanding that participation in the gas pipeline project be reviewed. Nord Stream 2 after claims that Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent from the group Rookie.
Thus, the head of the Munich Security Conference, the former ambassador to Washington Wolfgang Ischinger and the head of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, Norbert Röttgen, spoke in favor of closing the construction of the Russian oil pipeline.
