Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in 2021, under the Big Construction program, the longest highway in the country will be built, connecting Stryi in the Lviv region and Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.

This was reported by the press service of the President’s Office in reference to the words of the head of state, spoken during a working trip to Zaporozhye.
“We want to link the west and east with a big high-speed highway called M-30. This will be the longest highway in Ukraine – 1400 kilometers. It will go from Stry, but so far it will only reach Pokrovsk, because 200 kilometers of this highway they are in temporarily occupied part of the Lugansk region, “the press service quoted Zelensky as saying.
The deputy head of President Kirill Tymoshenko’s office said that part of the route was restored in 2020, the rest will be restored next year.
According to him, even without taking into account the 200 kilometers on the temporarily occupied territory, this route will be the longest in Ukraine.
“Now in Ukraine, the longest highway is 800 kilometers,” Tymoshenko said.
Zelensky also said that this year the 238 kilometers of roads of national importance in the Zaporizhzhya region, which were planned for this year, were built in Ukraine. Next year it is planned to build 300 kilometers of roads.
“And this will almost completely close all state roads in the Zaporozhye region,” the head of state said.
In turn, Tymoshenko added that next year the construction of bridges in Ukraine will continue under the Big Construction program.
“Many projects have been carried out on the Big Construction site in the Zaporozhye region and in the country as a whole. The implementation status is actually 95% of schools, 93% of kindergartens, facilities sports, local roads. We will finish everything as promised. There are projects that do not have time to complete by the end of the year, they will be completed in one or two months, “he said.
What preceded it
- Since March, the national project “Big Construction” has been carried out in Ukraine, within the framework of which the construction and repair of roads and other infrastructure facilities is carried out.
- Ukravtodor plans to repair about 6.8 thousand kilometers of roads in 2021, which is more than 2,000 kilometers more than planned for 2020.
