Lviv will not comply with the weekend quarantine

Lvov Mayor Andriy Sadovoy, during a meeting of businessmen near the Lviv Regional State Administration building on Wednesday, November 11, vowed not to introduce the weekend quarantine in the city. In a comment to RBC-Ukraine, he also called the government’s decision “stupid.”

According to him, it will “bury” small and medium-sized companies. Sadovoy is sure that in order to introduce such restrictions, it is first necessary to build a compensation system for entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs.

“We have not yet seen the final decision of the government, but so far the information indicates a lack of common sense. For example, cafes receive between 40% and 50% of the weekly income on Saturdays and Sundays. What is the compensation for them? And where do thousands of people go? If we want to be responsible, then let’s do like in Germany, France, Italy and Poland. First we give money, we compensate people for their losses and then we will talk about some restrictions, “he said. Sadovoy.

This afternoon he promised businessmen that “the city will not make a single unreasonable decision.”

“You and I must assume all the obligations: no banquets, anniversaries or weddings, but you cannot speak of a complete blockade,” Sadovoy stressed.

His colleague, Nikolaev Mayor Alexander Senkevich, who is now sick with coronavirus, also spoke out against the weekend’s quarantine. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“I am against the weekend quarantine. The coronavirus spreads regardless of time and place. And such strict security measures will significantly ‘affect’ our city’s budget. Let me remind you that during the hard quarantine, Nikolaev lost 100 millions of hryvnia. But if the city’s budget can be regulated, then businesses simply can’t handle such stress, “Senkevich said.

According to him, representatives of the hotel and restaurant business claim that if their establishments are closed for weekend quarantine, then there is no point in working at all.

“My suggestion is to avoid noisy parties and large parties in catering establishments, reduce the number of seats at the table, work until 10:00 pm. I would also like to emphasize that communication with the staff should be done in masks. Menu without contact, “said the head of the city.

It is an appeal that the local authorities will send for their consideration to the regional and state commissions of TEB and ES.

He also expressed concern that the state has not provided any compensation mechanism for those who are forced to liquidate their business.
