“Lunin remains one of the strongest goalkeepers in Ukraine”

Well-known goalkeeper Igor Shukhovtsev shared his impressions of Ukraine’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin in a friendly match against Poland (0: 2).

“After yesterday’s fight in Chorzów, some experts said that Andriy Lunin had not yet reached the level of the Ukrainian team. I do not think so. Despite his annoying technical oversight, which allowed the Poles to open an account, in my opinion, Lunin is still one of the strongest goalkeepers in Ukraine and I wouldn’t be surprised if Andriy Shevchenko entrusted him with the number 1 spot in one of the November games of the League of Nations.

Now the coaching staff of the Ukrainian team has whom to choose and much will depend on the tone of the goalkeepers’ game, on their psychological stability.

You know, goalkeepers have the following job: you can throw several “dead” balls, but you make a mistake that led to a goal and this will be remembered for a long time, even years. But for whatever reason few people pay attention to those outfield players who don’t score a penalty or miss from lethal positions. Therefore, we will assume that Andrei Lunin has already missed his, as they say, “butterfly” in the games for the national team and everything starts with a clean slate for him. Now it is important to support the guy, and I advise him to analyze everything thoroughly and try to forget this match. I believe in Andrei Lunin and I am convinced that he will be able to prove that this mistake in Chorzów is an unfortunate accident.

In general, I liked the football of the Ukraine team. Each of the players clearly knew their maneuver, the actions of the team made a good impression. But it did not work with the implementation, but it is ok, we will assume that our guys have saved the goals for the next games of the Nations League, ”said Shukhovtsev.
