Metropolitan Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz
The head of state said the Metropolitan Archbishop of Minsk-Mogilev “got into politics and dragged the faithful with him.”
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that the head of the Catholic Church in Belarus, Metropolitan Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, was included in the list of those who are prohibited from entering the country after a trip to Warsaw, allegedly for inquiries and obtaining certain tasks. This was announced on Tuesday, September 1, by the BelTA agency.
“I will not say that I have complete information, it is constantly changing. Now we are closely monitoring everyone who comes in and out,” Lukashenka said.
He noted that the head of the Catholic Church in Belarus “unexpectedly left for consultations in Warsaw and, having received certain tasks, returned to Belarus” and was included in the list of people with an entry ban, which is common in Belarus and Russia.
“Not only he (Kondrusevich – ed.) Is alone, he is just a more well-known figure,” Lukashenka said.
He also said that there was information about the possibility that Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz had more than one citizenship.
“We are studying, I do not approve of this. We want to study the issue. If everything is clean and in accordance with the law, we will act in accordance with the law. We do not care who it is, the main Catholic, the main Orthodox or the main Muslim. It should live according to the law. ” and he got into politics and dragged the believers, Catholics, who are wonderful people, then double responsibility, ”Lukashenka said.
In addition, he expressed his version of events on August 26 at the Red Church in central Minsk, when the riot police closed the church and did not let people in or out for 40 minutes. According to Lukashenka, it is a “forgery” that “we were not allowed to enter the church.” According to him, the representatives of the riot police “protected themselves from the crowd of protesters praying in the church.”
Let us remind you that yesterday it was reported that the Metropolitan Archbishop of Minsk-Mogilev Tadeusz Kondrusevich, who is a citizen of Belarus, cannot enter the country.
