The Belarusian president says the protests organizers’ tactics in Belarus were based on the classic American textbook of color revolutions. To this end, six months before the presidential elections, destabilization technologies were allegedly tested in the parliamentary elections. He also named seven stages of preparing protests in Belarus.

The president noted that the failed attempts of the 2006 and 2010 color revolutions changed the focus to influence Belarus. According to him, external actors have shifted from direct action technologies to methods of soft power and transformation of power from within.

“Belarus began to influence in a new way, targeting the iron presidential electorate: residents of the regions, workers, state employees, retirees. By the way, they tried to use those tactics in Syria and Venezuela,” he said.

According to him, after suppressing an attempt to undermine society in 2017, strategists began creating permanent pockets of discontent in the regions.

He also expressed his hope for the prudence of old Europe, which “will curb its excessively jealous peripheries.” “In recent years, we have lost the habit of the manifestations of the hostile policy of our neighbors.
