Members of the executive committee of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee, headed by Alexander Lukashenko, were withdrawn from participation in the Olympic Games. This decision was made by the International Olympic Committee.

Lukashenko and the members of the Belarusian NOC executive committee were suspended from all events organized by the International Olympic Committee.
“It was also decided to suspend all financial payments to the NOC of Belarus, except payments related to the preparation of Belarusian athletes for the Tokyo Olympics and the Winter Olympics in Beijing, and to suspend any discussion with the NOC of Belarus about future IOC events, “added Klaue.
The IOC will continue to monitor the situation in Belarus and may reconsider its decision or lift the sanctions adopted today, depending on its development.
Let us remind you that the European Union plans to prepare the third package of sanctions against the Lukashenka regime in Belarus next week. The sanctions will affect some 40 people and organizations involved in human rights violations in Belarus.
At the same time, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine that he opposed the introduction of economic sanctions against Belarus.
