Yury Voskresensky, a member of the Belarus opposition Coordination Council, who spent two months in an isolation cell accused of participating in mass riots, spoke about President Lukashenko’s promise not to run for president after the approval of the new Constitution .

He said this in an interview with the Belarusian edition of Tut.by.

According to him, during a round table held in a remand center with members of the Coordination Council of the Belarus opposition, Lukashenka gave his word that he had made an amendment to limit the number of presidential terms to two in the Constitution. .

Yuri Voskresensky believes that this idea should be supported.

“He gave his word to all the participants of the round table that he was full of the presidency, that this is his last term … I believe him, after all I have an anti-crisis manager diploma, and I feel those moments.” warned the opponent.

Voskresensky also said that during a panel discussion he called for an opportunity to “calm” the country.

“There may no longer be a president like me, honest, sincere and not corrupt. I am ready for these changes … This is my last term, but let me calm the country, improve it”, – cited the Belarusian president.

As previously reported by “Apostrophe”, the headquarters of former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya reported that on the eve of the ultimatum announced to the Belarusian authorities, Alexander Lukashenko made a “generous” offer to the opposition.
