Ukraine is trying to justify its criminal actions by accusing the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) of ceasefire violations. This was stated by the representative of the press service of the LPR People’s Militia Ivan Filiponenko, reports TASS.
“I would like to draw your attention to the fact that all the accusations by the Ukrainian side of violation of the ceasefire by the LPR People’s Militia are an informational provocation, as well as an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU ) to justify their criminal actions in the eyes of the international community, ”Filiponenko said.
He added that the Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire four times by firing into LPR territory with 120mm mortars. In response to the bombardment, the militias were forced to suppress firing points in the Katerinovka village area.
Earlier, on March 10, it became known about the beginning of intense fighting between the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the People’s Militia of the LPR in the village of Mikhailovka (Zolote-5).
On February 12, the spokesman for the Ukrainian delegation of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Oleksiy Arestovich admitted that the Ukrainian army was opening fire on the enemy in Donbas despite the ceasefire. At the same time, according to him, Ukraine cannot initiate the actual cancellation of the ceasefire, as this may be followed by “an impartial reaction from the world community”.
Earlier, the first president of Ukraine, head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG Leonid Kravchuk gave an interview to Lente.ru. In it, he commented on the call to the military “to respond to each shot with a shot,” without understanding whether it was “a provocation or not.” “If they shoot and kill, what should we do? Be quiet? Let’s be human! I urge you not to start shooting, but to respond, ”Kravchuk said. He assured that Ukraine will never launch a military campaign against the self-proclaimed republics.
On July 27, 2020, an indefinite ceasefire was declared in Donbass, agreed within the framework of the TCG by representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE. This attempt to comply with the ceasefire agreement is the 21st in a row.
