At the talks of the political advisers of the Normandy Four in Berlin, the Ukrainian side did not promise to review the Verkhovna Rada’s resolution on holding local elections. However, the parliament has registered an initiative containing amendments to the resolution.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation in Berlin, deputy prime minister, minister for the reintegration of the occupied territories, Alexei Reznikov, spoke about this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
As Reznikov explained, it would be wrong to discuss interference in the sovereignty of the Ukrainian parliament during a meeting of political advisers.
“No one was in charge of discussing the competence of the Ukrainian parliament or interfering with its sovereignty,” he stressed.
However, according to him, a proposal to amend the resolution on local elections was registered in parliament at the end of July, and representatives of Russia were informed about it.
They are informed that there is an initiative of Ukrainian deputies, an independent initiative that is not related to the position of anyone. This initiative, if I am not mistaken, was proposed after the start of the ceasefire, it can be consulted on the BP website. Neither Kozak nor other political advisers are not going to interfere with the sovereignty of the parliament, “Reznikov added.
Let us remind you that after the Normandy Four advisers’ negotiations, Russian Representative Dmitry Kozak said that the parties agreed to submit proposals to the Verkhovna Rada to amend the resolution on local elections.
It should be noted that in Russia they believe that the Rada resolution contradicts the Minsk agreements, because they contain different conditions for holding local elections in ORDLO.
In addition, the Rada affirmed that they will not modify the resolution on local elections.
