Manchester United and Liverpool will present a joint proposal to reform the Premier League by reducing the number of teams from 20 to 18, reports The Telegraph.
The proposal was initiated by Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group with the support of the Mankunians. After the reform, there should be 24 teams in the Championship, First and Second Leagues.
The purpose of the innovation is to reduce the huge difference in television rights revenue between the Premier League and the English Football League.
In addition, the AFL will receive an advance of £ 250 million for support during the crisis, and will receive 25% of the proceeds. It is noted that AFL President Rick Parry supported the idea, holding talks with Liverpool and United.
The reform also stipulates that the nine clubs, which are the oldest in the Premier League, will determine the activities of the tournament in all aspects. The initiators of the proposal expect the support of other major clubs in England.
