A new 2,141 km hiking trail connects the forests and national parks of the three countries
On average, it will take 102 to 114 days to overcome the route on foot in the Baltic countries.
The three Baltic republics will be connected by a hiking trail of more than 2,141 kilometers. This is reported by Travel and Leisure.
The trail is intended to be part of a European hiking trail that runs along the coasts of the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland.
The Forest Trail is part of the European Route E11 and can take up to 114 days to complete. Of the 2,141 km, 747 km are in Lithuania, 674 km in Latvia and 720 km in Estonia.
All the details for planning a trip, with descriptions, maps and roads, are available on the Baltic Forest website. Here they tell you where the start and end of the route are, how long the walk lasts, what type of coverage is on the route and what you should pay attention to on the way.
The route itself is divided into stages of 20 kilometers in length. However, there is a special division for the laziest – 50 segments, each of which is suitable for a day hike.
Authorities plan to erect signs along the highway, as well as maps of nearby residences and attractions.
Among the main attractions of the trail are: Dzukija and Zemaitija national parks in Lithuania, Kemeri and Gauja national parks in Latvia, as well as Lahemaa and Alutaguse parks in Estonia.
We will recall, the Greek authorities plan to start receiving tourists from May 14, said the country’s Tourism Minister, Haris Theocharis, at a press conference in the framework of the ITB 2021 international tourism fair.
In addition, the Nepalese government opened Mount Everest for climbing following the expedition ban, which was in effect for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
