Kyrgyzstan’s Security Council said the whereabouts of the country’s President Sooronbai Jeenbekov are unknown. It was decided to close the border.
Interfax-Zapad reports.
Omurbek Suvanaliev, deputy director of the country’s Security Council, said the prime minister was also missing.
“The whereabouts of Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov are unknown. For security reasons, it was decided to close the border,” he said.
The official says the country’s top officials have not appeared in public since the protests began in the country.
“The officials who left their jobs are in secret places. We cannot say exactly where, many of them are hiding,” he said.
We will recall, the Kyrgyz parliament has launched the impeachment procedure of the president.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, demonstrations of disagreement with the results of the parliamentary elections broke out in Kyrgyzstan.
The CEC did not recognize the election results and Kyrgyzstan should call repeated parliamentary elections.
