Pre-orders for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro began worldwide on Friday, October 16 at Apple stores and authorized retail partners. In a new report, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that in 24 hours Apple pre-ordered 1.7 to 2 million units of the iPhone 12, while in the same period last year, iPhone 11 sales totaled 500-800 thousand. In other words, the demand for the iPhone 12 was 2-4 times higher.
In fact, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will begin shipping worldwide on Friday, October 23. According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s forecast, by that time total preliminary sales of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will reach 7-9 million units. For comparison, sales of the entire iPhone 11 line in the first week of last year are estimated at 10-12 million units.
On the other hand, the analyst highlights that the volume of pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Pro has exceeded the expectations of analysts and Apple itself, mainly due to the very high demand for this model in China, Europe and the United States.
The first batch of iPhone 12 Pro with 128GB of internal memory and blue body color has already sold out in the United States, and the delivery time for new customers has been changed by 2-3 weeks, from October 23 to October 6 November 13. Other modifications of the iPhone 12 Pro can still be ordered with delivery on October 23, like most versions of the iPhone 12.
The analyst expects that demand for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, which will be available to preorder worldwide on November 6, will not be as strong. At the same time, he is confident that together all iPhone 12 models will help Apple achieve a record cash register by the end of 2020-2021.
At the same time, Ming-Chi Kuo updated its forecast on the distribution of shares between iPhone 12 smartphone models in total sales. Now, the analyst believes that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will receive 30-35% each, iPhone 12 Pro Max will have 15-20% and iPhone 12 mini 10-15%.
In Ukraine, we recall that pre-orders for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will start a week later, on October 23, and the first customers will receive their smartphones on October 30. Hryvnia prices have already been announced: from UAH 31,999 for the iPhone 12 and from UAH 39,999 for the iPhone 12 Pro.
