Ukraine has a preferential regime for admitting Belarusians into the country.
Due to the coronavirus, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine closed the borders for the entry of foreigners until September 28.
Ukraine has a simplified procedure for entering the country of citizens of Belarus. This means that they will be able to reach Ukraine despite the Cabinet of Ministers ordering to close the borders to foreigners. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said this on Friday, September 4, on the air of the talk show “Savik Shuster’s Freedom of Speech,” reports RBC.
“We immediately clearly state our position that in this difficult situation we would support Belarusian society. And therefore, even in the context of the introduction of an entry ban for foreigners, we have a preferential regime for admitting Belarusian citizens into the territory of Ukraine, “Kuleba said.
Recall that to prevent the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine temporarily closed the borders for foreigners and stateless persons from August 29 to September 28.
At the same time, a group of Belarusians complained that after their departure from Minsk, they were denied crossing the border with Ukraine at Odessa International Airport.
Earlier, in August, Ukraine called its Belarusian ambassador for the first time for consultations.
Furthermore, Belarusian President Lukashenko accused Ukraine of interfering in the country’s affairs.
