The undersecretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Major General Sergei Krivonos, proposes to legislate the possibility that conscripts do military service not in the army, but in territorial defense battalions without leaving their permanent place of residence. He said about this in an interview with NV.
Krivonos insists that such a possibility should be enshrined in the territorial defense bill (№ 4504), of which he is a co-author. The corresponding bill was presented to parliament on December 16.
“Now The use of conscripts in the armed forces is in most cases the service of slaves, who are not used for their intended purpose, but as a support unit. Unfortunately, this is the situation. It depends, of course, on the commanders. Some commanders are interested and others are not: cleaning the territory, wearing clothes, but not studying as military specialists, ”said Krivonos.
Instead of such a service, Krivonos proposes allowing men of military age to serve in territorial defense battalions without disrupting home and work, and to receive training on weekends.
