Leonid Kravchuk admitted that Ukraine is now in a rather difficult situation

When the Minsk accords were signed, it was already clear that they would not be honored, explained Leonid Kravchuk.

The head of the Ukrainian delegation of the Trilateral Contact Group, Leonid Kravchuk, believes that the Minsk agreements cannot be fulfilled and awaits negotiations in the Normandy format. He said so in an interview for Radio NV on Friday, September 11.

According to Kravchuk, the implementation of the Minsk agreements is now impossible due to the different positions of Ukraine and Russia regarding the determination of the sequence of transfer of control over the border and holding of elections in Donbass.

“Now we are in a rather difficult situation: there are Minsk agreements, but they cannot be implemented for obvious reasons. And because when they were signed, it was already clear that they would not be implemented. But according to international agreements, international agreements cannot be canceled by one of the parties, “he explained.

According to Kravchuk, it is possible to solve this problem at the level of the Normandy Four. He expressed his hope that after the meeting of the advisers to the heads of the Four Normandy countries, a new summit will be held with the participation of the leaders of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia.

“I believe that under the appropriate conditions and during such meetings, this problem should be solved. Only at this level, I do not see anything else,” said Ukraine’s first president.

We will recall, on September 11 in Berlin, that the advisers to the leaders of the Normandy format countries are discussing the preparations for the quartet’s summit, as well as the situation in Donbass. The Ukrainian side believes that it has already completed its “homework”.
