Kravchuk called Minsk-2 a loop on Ukraine’s neck

The Minsk agreements were a big mistake. Now the separatists and Russia refuse to change any of them.

The Minsk accords are a political noose around Ukraine’s neck, said Leonid Kravchuk, head of the Ukrainian delegation at the Donbass talks. He expressed this opinion in an interview with TSN.

“The set of measures, which was signed in 2015 during the time of Petro Poroshenko, is a big mistake. It is a political noose around Ukraine’s neck and one of the brakes that prevents us from making decisions everywhere and in everything,” says Kravchuk.

He gave an example from the TCG meeting yesterday. “They repeated the same thing, that Ukraine is changing the philosophy and order of the Minsk agreements. That the elections are recorded there first, and then the border, and Ukraine wants the opposite. And then they don’t want to hear me that this set of measures it was signed under very difficult conditions, hostilities continued. But the fact remains. How to get rid of this main point? Now they are throwing this document in our eyes. But I tell you that this is not the only document that was adopted in the process from Minsk, Normandy Many documents have been adopted, so it is necessary to make the whole range of decisions and not focus on a single point about the elections and the border, “Kravchuk explained.

At the same time, according to him, the TCG discussed possible compromises.

“There is, for example, the idea that perhaps not the entire border should first be transferred under the control of Ukraine, perhaps together with the OSCE forces. There are many options, but the fundamental principle is that it is impossible hold elections under Ukrainian law in a territory where there is not a single gram of Ukrainian. ” added Kravchuk.

At the same time, he noted that in order to hold local elections in Donbass on March 31, 2021, several laws must be passed, in particular, on the details of the elections in ORDLO.

“We have just approved the law, we can already prepare for the elections: February, March and part of January. There is enough time. And this is not being prepared today. We are not doing it from scratch. There is already progress, a law is being adopted , elections are being prepared, “Kravchuk said.

In addition, laws on demilitarization and amnesty need to be passed, Kravchuk added.

Recall that Kiev is preparing a strategy for the Donbass for the “Normandy”. The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG noted that this year Ukraine is in a better negotiating situation than before.
