Kostyuk started with a victory at the Abu Dhabi tournament

Ukraine’s third racket Marta Kostyuk (No. 99 WTA) began by winning the WTA 500 in Abu Dhabi.

In the first round, the 18-year-old Ukrainian defeated the 32-year-old Czech Lucia Hradecka (No. 495 WTA), who passed qualifying.

Note that this was only Kostyuk’s second win at the base of tournaments in this category (previously called Premier). In 2018 Martha won the main draw first round match in Stuttgart. But then he also broke the qualifying barrier.

In the next round, Kostyuk will fight Chinese Taipei’s Xie Shuwei (# 67 WTA).
