On Sunday, November 29, at the Finnish Kontiolahti, the men’s sprint race took place as part of the first stage of the World Cup. The victory was obtained by the Norwegian Johannes Boe, who had no equal on the track. Having closed all the goals, he was ahead of all rivals with a huge handicap.
The Swedes Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Ponsiluoma took the podium for the best biathlete of the last two years. Both made a mistake on the first shot, but corrected themselves in the stands and gave an excellent finishing circle.
The sprint race for all Ukrainian biathletes was a failure. The best of Yurai Sanitra’s charges was Dmitry Pidruchny, who was ranked 57th with three passive penalties.
The best shot was given to Taras Lesyuk, he did not close two goals in the second stage. But due to the slow speed, it was lower in the completion protocol of both Pidruchny and Prima. And Bogdan Tsymbal ran four penalty cycles at a time.
There will be no chasing sprints. The men will rest until December 3, when the second stage of the World Championship starts with speed races, which will also be held in Kontiolahti.
