So, Komarovsky dispelled the myth that antibiotics for viral pneumonia are prescribed to combat complications: from such drugs with viral pneumonia only worsens.

“The prophylactic use of antibiotics is a huge stupidity. It does not work. According to some reports, the prescription of antibiotics for viral infections increases between 6 and 9 times the probability of developing bacterial pneumonia. That is, the probability of complications”, emphasized the pediatrician .

The doctor added that with the patient’s normal state of health, lack of temperature and oxygen deficiency, almost any treatment for pneumonia, except for antipyretics, hurts the prospects for recovery.

“If you don’t prove a bacterial infection, a bacterial complication, antibiotics are simply contraindicated at any stage, even in a hospital or at home,” Komarovsky said.

“Guys, I ask you, never ask for antibiotics for coronavirus infection, this is the last thing with which this infection is treated,” concluded the doctor.
