Company United energy, which is part of the orbit of Igor Kolomoisky’s commercial interests, bought 3.27 million MWh from the state-owned Centrenergo at a price below cost.
As reported by Business Censor, it amounted to 1,160 UAH per MWh. At the same time, Centrenergo management previously noted that the cost of generating electricity at coal-fired stations from state mines is about 1.6 UAH kWh.
It is known that the auction was held on December 29. Deliveries are scheduled for January – March 2021. It is noteworthy that the volume of electricity purchased by Kolomoisky’s company is about 2% of the total annual consumption in Ukraine in total – 150 million MWh. Additionally, in 2019, Centrenergo generated a total of 10.2 MWh and sold 9.2 million MWh.
Note that the company’s previous record deal for the sale of 13.33 million MWh, which took place on December 20, is also partially related to the Kolomoisky company: it received 10.8 million MWh at a price of 1,150 UAH per MWh. h.
However, the volume of electricity purchased is several times higher than the consumption requirements of the largest companies of the Kolomoisky group of companies. Turns out that the surplus will be resold.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Kolomoisky was reported to have appointed his own people for the management of PJSC “Centrenergo”. He hinted at it himself in an interview. As a reminder, on July 1, 2019, the Supervisory Board of Tsentrenergo appointed Vladimir Potapenko as interim director of the company.
