The bell, on which the Archangel Michael sculpture is installed, symbolizes all the beauty, tolerance and diversity of Kiev, the mayor said.

The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, inaugurated a new fountain with a sculpture of the Archangel Michael in the Vladimirskaya Gorka park. This was announced on Saturday, September 19, by the mayor’s press service.

“Today we are opening not just a fountain. This is a symbolic composition. We honor the Kiev defenders and guards of our city. Archangel Michael is a respected angel in religious epic. Both in the Middle East and in Christianity,” Klitschko said.

According to him, the bell on which the Archangel Michael sculpture is installed symbolizes all the beauty, tolerance and diversity of Kiev, its hills and temples of different confessions.

“The figure of the Archangel Michael is an element of the coat of arms of our city. The sculptures of the Archangel were adorned in Kiev both in the Middle Ages and in later times. In 1997-98, when the Cathedral of St. Michael was restored and restored , my brother and I, together with other patrons of art, financed the creation. And then I dreamed that the sculpture of the archangel must be in Vladimirskaya Gorka. Near the cathedral. Dreams come true! “- said Klitschko.

The mayor thanked the artists who created the fountain, as well as the sponsors who financed the sculpture of Archangel Michael. The city budget financed the installation of the fountain.

Earlier, Klitschko signed an order to rebuild the Paton Bridge, one of the largest transportation arteries in the capital. According to the plans of the Kiev City Council, the restoration of the Paton Bridge should be completed by December 31, 2025.
