Klitschko can win in the first round

After counting 67% of the votes, the current mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, gets 51% of the votes, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

The current mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, can win the mayoral elections of the city in the first round, obtaining more than 50% of the votes. This is demonstrated by data from the “Interfax-Ukraine” agency, obtained from sources close to the territorial electoral commission.

According to operational data received from the precinct commissions, after processing 67% of the ballots, Klitschko is getting about 51% of the votes, the agency interlocutor said.

In second place is the former head of the Kiev City State Administration, the candidate of the Opposition Platform – For Life, Alexander Popov (9.4%), in third place – Showman and volunteer Sergei Pritula, running for this position of “Voice” (7.7%).

According to the results of a survey conducted by the Savik Shuster study, Klitschko got 45.93%, Popov, 9.62%.

On October 25, 2020, local elections were held throughout Ukraine, except for annexed Crimea and the occupied regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Citizens of Ukraine elected heads of cities, towns and municipalities, as well as deputies of regional, district, city, town and village councils. The elections were held for the first time in accordance with the new Electoral Code, according to the proportional system with open lists.

According to the Central Election Commission of Ukraine at 8:00 p.m., turnout in local elections was 37% (in Kiev – 34.34%).
