The leader of the DPRK is Kim Jong Un
At the previous Labor Party convention, which was held five years ago, Kim Jong-un was elected president.
The leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, was elected general secretary of the party at the VIII Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK). This was announced on Monday, January 11, by the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (CTAC).
The previous TPK congress took place in May 2016. Then the chairman of the DPRK State Council, Kim Jong-un, was elected to the post of party chairman.
Speaking at the Labor Party convention, Kim Jong-un said his country could “start over” relations with South Korea. However, for this, Seoul needs to actively implement inter-Korean agreements.
Likewise, TsTAK recalled that the participants in the VIII Congress of the WPK approved changes in its statute, according to which subsequent congresses will be convened once every five years. It was noted that now the party’s congresses will be announced several months before the convocation.
Recall that the Chairman of the DPRK State Council, Kim Jong-un, at the opening of the 8th Congress of the Korean Workers’ Party said that Washington is the main enemy of Pyongyang.
It should be noted that in his New Year’s greetings, Kim Jong-un said that in 2021, the DPRK will approach a new era, when the “ideals and aspirations” of the country’s people will come true.
